Strategies: Just hunting over some C'mere deer in the East Texas woods.
It's was opening weekend of our Texas season and I'd been baiting up an area with C'mere deer for several days. My plan was to try to get Brandy her first buck. You always have to bow hunt by opportunity - in other words try to get a shot at whatever comes in , hogs, does or bucks. Lucky for Brandy a buck came by first.
On opening morning we were setup in a ground blind. Like clockwork 4 bucks came straight to the C'mere deer. I had my eyes glued into the viewer finder so I wasn't paying much attention to "exactly" where the bucks were standing. Brandy whispered if I was on the buck - "yes" - and she let it fly. The arrow missed low, knocking hair off the belly. Great Lumenok miss footage! The buck was at 28 yards and Brandy aimed for 20. Of course it was my mistake, I didn't tell her the distance - even thou there was a Nikon rangefider just an arm lengths away from her!
The next morning we were back in the same ground blind. So far this mornings hunt was going slow. We were getting our gear picked up and getting ready to leave. I made one last look out of the blind before unzipping it - and the same 4 bucks were coming back!!! I quickly put the camera back on the tripod - pushed the record button and watched Brandy make a great 25 yard shot. The buck went only 20 yards. It was Brandy's first buck - a nice 3 year old 7 pt. Brandy couldn't believe she shot the same buck she missed the day before. Those bucks got addicted to C'mere deer - they were all staying close by.
